After completing my master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology, I plan to secure an instructional design position in a corporate or higher education setting. My goal is to apply new skills in learning design to create, assess, and deliver motivating and accessible content that provides learners with unique and memorable learning experiences. As a seasoned music educator and big-picture thinker, I aspire to reach learners on a greater scale while still providing a differentiated, individualized approach. I have gained many skills in the ID&T program at UT. These skills include applying instructional design principles and frameworks, motivational strategies and tactics, and adult and adolescent learning theories to every facet of my educational content creation. In my current coursework I am exploring how to apply these principles to create highly effective learner content in authoring systems such as Articulate 360 and Rise. I am building skills in video and sound authoring with Camtasia, Logic Pro, and Final Cut Pro. My first project in the Instructional Design and Technology program combined the Universal Design for Learning framework and Keller’s ARCS Motivational tactics to create a comprehensive Instructional Design prototype to address learner motivation. As my coursework continues, I plan on utilizing a variety of learning theories, educational frameworks, and data-based research as the center of what I create for learners to ensure an individualized and effective approach for their success. As I work toward this goal, I plan to further develop my skills and expertise in a technologized and rapidly growing environment for online learning, where learning solutions can be developed quickly, evaluated efficiently, and delivered to learners effectively. My expected graduation date is Fall 2024.
